Cymbopleura linearis and C. fluminea have more linear valves with dorsal and ventral margins that are less curved. Cymbopleura fluminea also has a smaller central area. Cymbopleura naviculiformis and C. sublanceolata are more dorsiventral with more lanceolate valves, more strongly arched dorsal margins, and narrower subcapitate to capitate apices. Cymbopleura amphicephala and C. frequens have smaller size ranges.
