Encyonema silesiacum, and other species in the E. silesiacum group, have a central stigmoid.
Encyonema kamtschaticum is larger, has wider apices, a wider axial area, and wider central area. The ventral margin is convex.
Encyonema nicafei, E. yellowstonianum, E. reimeri, E. temperei
Encyonema minutum var. pseudogracilis is similar in length, but has wider valves and a stigmoid.
Encyonema lange-bertalotii is smaller.
