Encyonopsis montana has rhombic-lanceolate valves and attains a much larger size (up to 75 µm long). Encyonopsis falaisensis has linear-lanceolate valves and a moderately large central area. Encyonopsis stafsholtii has rhombic-lanceolate valves with long attenuated apices and higher stria density (22-25 in 10 µm). Encyonopsis cesatiformis has wider valves (up to 7.6 µm wide) and a somewhat larger asymmetric central area.
