Christopher S. Lobban is an Emeritus Professor of Biology at University of Guam, having been on the teaching faculty there for 27 years. His research on benthic diatom biodiversity has so far added over 100 species and 10 genera to the Micronesian flora. In the 1980s, he worked on tube-dwelling diatoms. He coauthored Physiological Ecology of Seaweeds (Cambridge 1994, 2014) and Tropical Pacific Island Environments (UOG Press 1997, Bess Press 2014) and spent 20 years exploring the zooxanthellate ciliate Maristentor dinoferus.
