Encyonopsis lacusalpini and E. subminuta have elliptic-lanceolate valves with smaller length to width ratios. Encyonopsis neerlandica has lanceolate to rhombic-lanceolate valves. Encyonopsis perborealis has smaller valves with subcapitate apices and a higher stria density. Encyonopsis krammeri has more strongly dorsiventral valves.
